Does RAP and Hip Hop suck?

There's very little amount of good message containing Rap, it's uncanny. If it sings about: Oh, I tapped her pussy after I filled my homie full of black caps... that stuff is total shit.

It just depends. I don't give a shit about gangsta rap, nor do I care for retarded poppish stuff like Chicken Noodle Soup, or Lean With It Rock With It, but I will definitely listen to some Eminem, D12, Beastie Boys. It's not so much the genre, but the people delivering it that suck. Most modern rap artists are talentless douchebags propelled into fame by ignorant people. And many of them admit it in their songs, rapping about how they could get people to buy their albums even if they didn't say anything on the track. Many people just buy music simply because other people like it. Which is pathetic.

The main problem with rap is that it's more about image than a creative direction. And the fans follow that same pattern.

No. Mainly because the mainstream MTV/BET bullshit isn't the entire demographic. Not all Hip Hop is money, cash, hoes. Anybody here listen to Fort Minor, Eminem, Beastie Boys, Linkin Park (circa Hybrid Theory/Meteora), Hilltop Hoods, Die Fantastischen Vier, Insane Clown Posse, Lupe Fiasco, D12? These are basically rappers or rap groups that either avoid gangster rapping or oppose it all together. Just because they're a minority compared to the massive cavalcade of mediocre shit fags who only rap about the money, cash, and hoes they don't have or their gayest looking dance move, doesn't mean that the entire genre should be put down. Don't generalize shit, it pisses me off as much as the mainstream Hip Hop pisses you off.

Yeah, I know there are some good ones. Some of the ones you listed there are ones that I did as well. Fort Minor specifically is brilliant. Their music is all about emotion. It has nothing to do with gangs and money. ICP is pretty violent, though. I definitely loved me some Hell's Pit but that was back in tenth grade. I kind of outgrew that. I did listen to it a while back, though. I love Angels Are Falling. Thats one of my favorite tracks. It's just such an eerie one. Also I liked Sedatives. And of course, who could forget Bowling Balls?

Hall of Illusions is pretty kickass too.

That damn crop circles album they handed out at one of their concerts was a total piece of shit, though. They better come back with something good.

lmao. They released their album called The Tempest but I don't know how good it is. Yeah, their stuff is violent but I'd prefer rapped lyrics of psychotic murder and often semi-comedic undertones to rapping about how to do a shitty dance that makes you look like an epileptic moron. Yes! Halls of Illusions is easily one of my favorite ICP songs. Also, I agree about Fort Minor, definitely one of my favorite Hip Hop ensembles. Sad how people, at least the ones I know, rejected Fort Minor's music in favor of Lil Wayne and that faggot DJ Khaled.

Edit: Is it just me or does anybody else here who listens to Hip Hop think ac isn't the best rapper? I personally think his poetry was much better than his rapping.

Honestly? No. Not all of it sucks. You can't generalize the whole genre. As many people in here have already said, the majority of the mainstream rap && hip hop completely lacks creativity && seems to be all sex, drugs, etc., etc. but there is plenty of rap && hip hop I enjoy. The fact is it doesn't take talent to rhyme words to make a song about some make-upthat may or may not be 'poppin', but it does take talent to creatively put together a song with actual meaning, an actual point behind it. The lyrics to those songs always seem to sound so much more intelligent, too.

The one I heard was called The Calm. It was the EP to introduce The Tempest. It talked about alien invasions and shit. But then retardedly they changed the album concept and The Tempest became just a roller coaster.

I don't even know. There was a follow up..like After the Storm or some shit. I believe it was also an EP. People said The Tempest was better than The Calm, but still neither were that great.
