First of all, I was on another site and came across a thead about believing in god. So I posted; read other posts. And just wanted to see what everyone thought/felt about the subject. The question is; Is there a god? NOTE: these are all quotes from the site I was on. I personally agree with this statement. It's short and to the point, Quote:
And after reading some more, I posted this (with someone else's post included) Quote:

You would be agnostic, which means you think there might e something more out there, but we can't know anything about it. I'm half atheist/agnostic. I lean more towards evolution, but I think it could have been guided. I think of the world as a giant sandbox for said figure in the sky. I see religion as a way of making people feeling better about death, or for explaining why things are, which I'm okay with, as long as I'm not preached to. I'd be up for discussing it though. In a book called 'Angels and Demons'(book before the da vinci code) the big bang is a part of the plot. In it, a catholic scientist and daughter are working on a big project that could change the world. The father says that he had created a universe of his own and has it contained in this canister. What is proposed is that the big bang did happen, but a higher up force did help it. I don't think we'll ever know for sure whats up there, or why things happen, but sometimes we have to take it. There was also this awesome episode of futuramma where bender is lost in space. A group of small people grow on him and he becomes a god. Eventually they kill each other in a war because some felt neglected by bender. Which I think is whats going on today, where we fight over religion, like Isreal for example. Bender eventually runs into this nebula that starts talking to him. He asks if he is god and the thing says maybe, maybe not or something like that. As it turns out, if this is god, then it doesn't even know we exist and is working on other parts of the universe.

Anyway, back to the subject, there has to be something out there IMO, there are too many coincidences for all of this to have happened by chance. Now whether or not that thing should be worshiped is another subject and I don't feel like typing out all of my beliefs (I might be here all nighs!) and I would probaly end up making someone angry.

There is a God. What I believe is this. There's is no possible way that all this in this world could of happen by chance.

I am loosely Catholic/Agnostic. I am serious about the LOOSELY part. There is a higher power, but like what Kinny said, it's probs off doing something more fun than waiting around all day listen to us pray to it. However, I do believe the Church have some parts right, like to honour the fact that, although he isn't interested in us at the moment, he must of been to have done something to make us. (Just before people start bagging people and this turns out to be a religion/big bang war, I just want to state that I think we are all entitled to our opinion and that no one, I repeat, no one, should be allowed to full on strip that belief away from someone. So please, no fighting guys) |

Trust me coulbe, im not looking for a fight; just a discussion. I want to see other views to see if they can influence mine. But yes, there has to be something out there, I just doubt it's a floating man in the sky. I mean seriously. There is no hell; just the core of the earth. There is no heaven; just space/clouds/sky. Religions are a strange thing to understand, and i soley believe in a scientifical answer in some way or another. (By scientifical I mean each and every science out there combined.)

| An active idealist (I hope). |
I am partially religious, but I am also full of logic. I do believe there is a force of a higher power, but my point of view is that heaven and hell aren't in the sky nor the ground, they exist in intirely different dimentions in which only ions such as energy can cross between (spirits). This higher power (God) could be the one who created quarks thus using them to control and change any event and any forms of matter. For those who choose not to believe, I have to say I wouldn't blame you, at a single dimention in which matter couldn't exist in it is IMPOSSIBLE to fully prove at all if such a force truly exists.

I think you are thinking literally, first off spirits aren't ions at all or any physical matter either, second there are multiple meanings to the word heaven or hell, what the bible means is that Heaven is where you are in his presence, in his house so to speak, while hell is where you are cast away from his presence. Third God has and always will exist, the thing you don't get is that since this is on a spiritual plane and since sin get in the way of your relationship with God no one seems to realize the truth and comes up with the wrong idea.
