I voted novel, I'm not really into that everything Japanese scene, plus I like reading. Note, I have read the Full Metal Alchemist series along with Dragonball

I have to say both. While novels tend to go in depth on the story and social patterns, and the mind. Mangas show the visual side and are usually comedic so I read both.
